CarMD shares top ten most reliable cars

Each year, CarMD studies the reliability of cars by looking at “check engine” problems, repairs and other related costs. CarMD then compiles the data in what it calls the CarMD Vehicle Health Index. This data shows consumers car maintenance and repair trends and patterns as well as the most reliable cars on sale in the past 10 years.

According to the report, overall repair costs were down six percent from 2011. The five most common repairs found in this study will reduce fuel economy if ignored. The most common repair is “replace oxygen sensor,” which is likely related to damaged or loose gas caps. Ignoring this warning can reduce gas mileage as much as 40 percent.

As far as the most reliable cars on the road, the oldest car making the top ten list was from 2007, a statement on the increase in reliability of newer vehicles.
