Embrace History on the 40th Fall Tour of Homes in Charleston

40th Fall Tour of Homes

Not an actual house on the tour, although we wish it was.

The 40th Fall Tour of Homes takes place this October and if you’ve been to this event before, you already know what you’re missing out on. The Preservation Society has arranged plenty of opportunities for locals and visitors alike to take a tour of historical homes. From self-paced walking tours to lunch lectures, there’s something for everyone and we here at Mama’s Used Cars have the details!

Take to the streets on October 27th for the Tradd Street Tour. This tour reflects Charleston’s architecture from the city’s oldest houses to several 20th century models. The street also runs from the Cooper River to the Ashley River, the only street to do so, making it a popular spot both back then and in the present day.

Taking place on October 29th, the Battery Tour gives visitors a closer look at the early houses built at the time the city was first expanding. Several of the houses were built a few years prior to the American Civil War and survived their front-row seat. Having survived fierce weather, military occupation, and artillery strikes, these homes offered a close-up of history in the making.

Closing out the fall event is the South of Broad Tour. Showcasing some of the city’s most significant properties, ranging from the 1700s to the late 1900s, the properties are perfect for history and architectural lovers alike. Adapted for a modern day style, the homes show how southerners lived for ages. Effectively a trip back in time, the South of Broad Tour takes place on October 30th.

Come to a Classic American Cruise-In at Sonic This Labor Day

Classic American Cruise-In

No matter where you’re from, there’s nothing quite like a classic American cruise-in to lift your spirits! Open to visitors of all ages and backgrounds, the event is designed to bring together automobile enthusiasts and performance junkies alike. Here’s everything you need to know about the classic American cruise-in from us here at Mama’s Used Cars.

Taking place on the first Saturday of each month at the Sonic in Goose Creek, the American cruise-in is open to imports and American-made models of all years and makes. Falling on Labor Day this year, there’s bound to see some spectacular goodies that show up!

The event, sponsored by Lowcountry Muscle Car, holds a “Feature” night where Mustangs, Camaros, trucks, and other various models take the front 13 spaces. Space is limited so the event runs on a first-come-first-serve basis. Make sure to arrive early!

September 3rd, Labor Day, happens to be “Chevelle Night” which means, you guessed it, Chevrolet Chevelles! Originally produced from 1963 to 1977, the Chevelle has long been on the production line but its style has inspired dozens in the modern automotive market. In 1969, the Chevelle was advertised as “America’s most popular mid-size car,” giving it a status few models can compete with.
